To keep going with this marathoner style of living, we don’t think twice before putting self-care on the back seat.

Research states that introducing self-care into one’s daily routine-

  • Minimizes stress
  • Reduces the possibility of mental, and physical ailment
  • Heightens productivity
  • Inculcates feelings of happiness

Here are 10 tips for you to get started and engage in self-care!

  • Simplify your schedule
Ask yourself which activities and relationships are actually adding value to your life. And make room for those things purposely.
  • Do something that energizes your body
Dance, stretch, swim, run, perform yoga, or any physical activity you love. Exercise plays a key role in self-care. It boosts your mood and lessens stress and anxiety.
  • Do something new
Are you thinking of learning a new skill or trying a new hobby? Then this is the time! When you create or learn something new it enables you to feel mindful and productive.
  • Pen down your thoughts
Spare some time and jot down whatever is on your mind.  This helps to mentally release those things when you write.
  • Spend some quality time with a quality person
Hang out with somebody who you love. If they’re far away, make a phone call.

  • Get some good sleep
Sleep can have a great impact on how you feel both emotionally and physically. Take a nap, go to bed earlier and give your body a little extra rest. Stay away from caffeine and sugar. They usually have a tendency to keep you awake.
  • Eat healthily and mindfully
The types of foods you consume can have a great impact on your health, well-being, and feelings of vitality. Nowadays, we usually eat our meals while multitasking. Allow yourself to indulge in a meal without any sort of distractions.
  • Say “YES” to your self-care and “NO” to others
Learning to say a “NO” is pretty difficult! This may take a bit of practice However, if you’re already stressed, saying “YES” to others can lead to anxiety, and irritability. When you learn to politely say a “NO”, you’ll start to feel more self-confident and you can gather extra time for your self-care.
  • Take a short trip/break
When you take a self-care trip, it can make a great difference in your life. When you go out on weekends, it helps you reduce fatigue, feel relaxed and refreshed. These trips don’t have to be expensive. The goal is to leave your mundane schedule and take the time to do something only for yourself.
  • Unplug
Technology is awesome, but overuse can cause depression and anxiety. Mostly people only post on their success, and you start to compare your entire life to someone’s highlight reels. Go on the media and technology fast, and allow yourself to engage in the beauty of the moment.
